I'm Ally McNair. There are thousands of people in NH who require long term care. They're at a point in their lives when performing everyday tasks such as bathing, getting to the store or making appointments requires some or a lot of assistance.
It may sound straight-forward but for many people long term care is far from being simple. It can involve risks, have serious financial impacts and the system itself can be very tough to navigate.
AARP NH recently conducted a statewide survey about the issues that matter most to people 50 plus -- long term care is one that rose to the top.
Joining me to address the issue are Joanna Theberge, a long-term support counselor from ServiceLink in Manchester and Rich Crocker, former Director of the Division of Elderly and Adult Services for the State of NH.

There's a story that I want to share that clearly illustrates a common situation for families facing decisions about long term care. Tim and Geri Gormley spent the greater part of their adult lives in NH's education system. They have grown children who live out of state. Now, the couple faces a serious challenge - Tim lives with dementia and his wife Geri intends to care for him at home.
